ABC's of Bully Prevention

 

Prevention, it sounds so easy, doesn't it?

Unfortunately, that's not the case in classrooms or in the community at large. As a society, we witness bullying on social media every single day.

Politicians attacking the rights of everyday people and belittling them when they're brutally attacked.

School shootings, public mass shootings!

How are we supposed to prevent bullying amidst all this hate? We have to start somewhere, so it falls to parents and educators to set children on the right course.

We need an empathetic society that embraces diversity and inclusivity. One of the best ways to accomplish this feat is to read books that cover a wide range of diverse topics.

When I started The Kamyla Chung Series I drew on my experiences as a public school teacher. During my tenure I witnessed the difficult situations many children live in and the violent outbursts that brought into my classroom.

I hope that Kamyla Chung and the Classroom Bully will be a stimulus for heartfelt, meaningful conversations between parents and their children and teachers and their students.

To cure school violence, we must address the mental health of students and offer consistent and viable support to those who are struggling. Books that approach the subject gently are one tool educators and counselors can use to accomplish this.
